Washington County School District partners with Southwest Behavioral Health to offer 5 free mental health counseling sessions (1 intake, 4 sessions) for students. Please get in touch with your counselor for a referral.

School-Based Outreach (SBO) provides voluntary, school-based mentoring to help youth improve attendance, academic performance, decision-making, and positive social skills.

Mentors work with youth on skills such as problem-solving, anger management, peer refusal, accountability, and goal-setting, while encouraging them to develop a positive vision for their future.

Services typically take place at school during school hours. SBO mentors are not therapists and do not provide clinical counseling. With appropriate permissions, youth progress and participation may be shared with school staff and families to support the youth’s success.

Our Youth Empowerment Group provides a safe, supportive space for youth ages 11–17 to build confidence and develop skills for healthy relationships and personal safety.

Through interactive activities and discussions, youth explore self-esteem, boundaries, communication, emotions, conflict resolution, consent, healthy relationships, and violence prevention. Participants learn to recognize unsafe situations, set boundaries, manage difficult emotions, and make empowered choices.

The groups are designed as a psychoeducation, intervention, and prevention program and can be adapted to meet the needs of different age groups.

The Youth Empowerment Group will meet on alternating Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10:30 am to 11:00 am. If you would like your student to participate, please submit a permission slip to your student’s counselor.
